Level Design Concepts in 6/2025 Practice Project

Concepts from the Level Practice Project I did this month as a way to help improve my skills and how I can employee different design theories, take data into account to improve the level, and improve on my implementation of blueprints and behavior trees in Unreal Engine 5.

Here I show a practical use of color theory I employ throughout the level. Rooms with a blue carpet I use to show it is an optional room not needed to progress the main plot of the level

Here is another use of color theory. Where I use red to mark the main paths of the game to use as leading lines. The red carpet at the top leads to the main staircase, whereas the side room signifies the guard may have a key item.

Here I employ refuge to give the player a place of respite and rest between the different routes of the game.

This is a use color theory, refuge and a hard gate for the player. The red carpet of the main path leads to the purple carpet of the final room with the door as a barrier. Upon entering the door the player can not leave till the level is finished.
